GVC Holdings subsidiary partypoker has confirmed that it has removed 277 ‘bot accounts’ from its poker platform, leading to a redistribution of $735,000 in money back to its players.
‘Bots’ are computer programs that are specially designed to play against human opponents or other pieces of software.
In its update, partypoker management states that the 277 bot terminations, form part of its mandate in safeguarding players, and maintaining the market’s fairest online poker room.
The bot closures were undertaken by a specifically trained ‘Poker Fraud Team’, tutored by former professional players to spot patterns and identify suspicious plays that could be attributed to ‘bot-like-play’.
Seeking to maintain a fair and sustainable online poker environment, the partypoker customer service team has set-up a direct contact to its fraud team, which will investigate suspected ‘bot-incidents’ as part its operational mandate.
Backing the directives, Team partypoker’s Patrick Leonard said: “Two years ago it wouldn’t have been possible, but after seeing the security department first hand, the team working there and the tools they are using, I’m very confident now that they can tackle people trying to play against the rules.”
