Each week, CasinoBeats breaks down the numbers behind some of the industry’s most interesting stories. This week we look at a few eye-catching financial results, a huge slots win and take a trip to Malta

$463.6m

Reporting its results for the three months to March 31, 2019, Wynn Resorts posted a year-on-year revenue drop of 3.7 per cent, to $1.65bn – thanks in part to litigation costs of $463.6m. The breakdown of this sum was not provided but may relate to the numerous allegations of sexual misconduct against former CEO Steve Wynn, which he continues to deny. Wynn Resorts also reported a drop in VIP revenues, although CEO Matt Maddox said in a call he expects the see high-roller footfall return to previous levels.

Three per cent

It’s results season and Scientific Games was among those reporting a rise in first-quarter revenues. The company reported that Q1 2019 revenues rose by three per cent to $837m, up from the $812m reported in the same period in 2018. SG attributes the growth in revenues to the development of its social and lotteries divisions, which have grown by 22 per cent and five per cent respectively.

30,000

A player at online casino Videoslots.com scooped a prize with a 30,000 stake multiplier, on NetEnt‘s Dead Or Alive Two.

The £5,400 payout, although not itself that high, is notable since it came from a stake of just 18p. It capped a big week at Videoslots, following a £200,000 payout on Play’n Go‘s Book of Dead.

Two

Tom Horn Gaming collected two gongs at the Baltic and Scandinavian Gaming Awards in Lithuania, Best Online Casino Innovator in the Baltics and Rising Star in Baltic Online Casino Technology.

The awards continue what has been a strong year for the developer, as it builds further on its reputation in the Baltics and Scandinavia, and beyond.
