Score Media and Gaming Inc has cleared the first hurdle to becoming operative in the state of Indiana this week.

In a brief statement issued by the company, it was confirmed that the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) has granted the firm’s subsidiary, Score Digital Sports Ventures Inc, a temporary Sports Wagering Vendor license.

Said theScore: “Receipt of this temporary license is the first step of a multi-stage regulatory approval and licensing process which must be satisfied before the company may offer wagering on theScore Bet in Indiana.”

The Toronto-based sports betting firm first secured market access to offer mobile sports betting in Indiana via its previously announced agreement with Penn National Gaming Inc

It said that it anticipates launching theScore Bet in Indiana later this year, subject to the satisfaction by theScore and its technology vendors of the IGC’s applicable regulatory requirements.

Indiana legalized sports betting, both land-based and online, via the passage of house bill H1015 last year leading to a full launch in September. Like other states that allow sports wagering, the Hoosier State saw March revenues hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, although mobile rallied somewhat.
