José Antonio Ortiz Báez, President of Conajzar Paraguay’s ‘National Gambling Commission’, has revealed that four companies are currently vying to become the new operating company of the ‘Paraguay Quiniela’ (National Lottery).

Ortiz Báez disclosed that tender competition documents had been accepted by national competitors Paraguay TDP, Consorcio B Gaming and Daruma SA, joined by ‘IGT Foreign Holdings’ as the only international firm bidding for the lottery contract.

Paraguay TDP currently maintains day-to-day management of the Quiniela. However, Conajzar’s current lottery incumbent faces tough competition from Daruma SA – the operating company of Paraguay’s national sportsbook monopoly ‘Apostola’.

Meanwhile, IGT Foreign Holdings is the Colombian registered South American subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed gambling technology conglomerate IGT Plc.

At present, little is known with regards to third Quiniela suitor Consorcio B Gaming and its lottery operating capacities.

Updating stakeholders, Conajzar detailed that it would move to open a three-month window in which all four competing incumbents must submit their formal proposals.

In his update, Ortiz Báez chose not to disclose details with regards to tender processes and further timetable arrangements. However, the Conajzar leader underlined that the Paraguay Quiniela must be operated utilizing its current retail terminals.
