DraftKings has debuted its mobile and online sportsbook in Iowa, building upon a partnership entered alongside Wild Rose Entertainment last year.
This saw three DraftKings powered on-property sportsbooks debut in October, with new facilities featured at each of the Wild Rose Casino and Resort locations in Jefferson, Emmetsburg and Clinton.
“DraftKings has seen steady fan engagement in Iowa during the last few months at our three Wild Rose sportsbooks across the state, and we couldn’t be more excited to provide customers with our state-of-the-art mobile sports-betting platform,” commented Matt Kalish, president of DraftKings North America and co-founder.
“We have worked diligently to perfect our sportsbook product since it launched in 2018, and starting today, we’re proud to offer Iowans a safe and responsible place to wager on sports – one that can be accessed conveniently from the palm of their hands.”
Sports bettors inside Iowa’s state lines are now able to place bets on all major sports, however state law requires individuals to finalise registration in-person at any of the three aforementioned land-based locations. Following January 1, 2021, customers will no longer be required to register in-person.
Another important distinction in Iowa is that sportsbooks are not permitted to accept player proposition wagers involving a university or college in Iowa. This regulation also extends to the opponents in games with Iowa schools. Pre-match and in-game wagering on Iowa schools and their opponents is permitted.

Last week Boston headquartered DraftKings deepened its relationship with professional US sports after aligning with the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Indiana Pacers National Basketball Association franchises.
