IGT strengthens corporate governance with Bassey appointment

International Game Technology (IGT) has officially unveiled the appointment of Beatrice H. Bassey in the role of independent advisor as the gambling technology and lottery systems supplier looks to strengthen its corporate governance and general counsel.

The strategic appointment of Bassey will see the executive counsel IGT governance on group legal oversight and support the firm’s executive leadership team on ongoing compliance directives related to new markets.

A leading legal expert and enterprise strategist for emerging markets, Bassey is the current General Counsel and Compliance Officer of LSE listed African-focused private equity firm Atlas Mara.

Bassey also serves on the board of the Union Bank of Nigeria Plc and Botswana Banking Corporation and Banque Populaire du Rwanda.

“Beatrice’s extensive experience in the highly dynamic and regulated banking sector, in addition to her extensive international exposure, are valuable perspectives to add to IGT’s board,” said Lorenzo Pellicioli, IGT Chairman.

In its update, IGT also confirmed that board member Paget Alves had chosen not to stand for re-election, ending his 10-year tenure on IGT’s Audit and Compensation Committees.

This week, IGT confirmed the appointment of Max Chiara as inbound Group CFO, ending its four-month executive search to replace Alberto Fornaro, who departed the company at the end of last year.
