The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe’s Paragon Casino has moved into profitability for the first time since 2016, enabling it to make its agreed six per cent quarterly distribution of gaming profits to local government agencies. Under its state compact with Louisiana, the tribe is required to distribute the six per cent among six parish-wide entities and nine municipalities.
While the past financial quarters have yielded a net loss for the tribe’s casino, it has continued to make grants available to local governments and non-profit organizations.
Speaking to Avoyellestoday.com Tribal Chairman Marshall Pierite outlined: “It is our mission here at the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe and Paragon Casino to be a great community partner. Our goal is to remain supportive of parish-wide and community enrichment programs. It is our shared vision that all of these endeavors are possible.”
Also quoted was District Attorney Charles Riddle who said: “We believe this will be an ongoing thing. I believe the tribe has solved its problems that kept it from showing a profit.”
In accordance with the compact, the parish-wide agencies each received a share of $61,881, with municipalities receiving between them $20,627.
