The president of the Colombian gambling regulator Coljuegos, has spearheaded a new national campaign which is due to raise public awareness of new gambling laws across the country.

Juan Pérez Hidalgo launched the new #LaJugadaPerfecta campaign this weekend which comes ahead of the beginning of the CONMEBOL Copa Americá 2019 football tournament hosted in Brazil.

Pérez Hidalgo explained to the media: “Today, our licensed industry tells Colombian players that they can do #LaJugadaPerfecta at Copa América 2019, with all offers authorized by Coljuegos, which hold the guarantee to do so legally and responsibly.”

Set to be the Colombian betting market’s busiest month,  Pérez Hidalgo emphasised that there is an industry-wide need to support and collaborate with Coljuegos and the country’s seventeen licensed online gambling incumbents, in a move to raise critical funds for national projects and public services.

He continued:“From Coljuegos there is a permanent dialogue with the operators and together with the State entities, such as the National Police and the Attorney General of the Nation, the illegal offer of games of luck and chance is fought “

As President of Coljuegos, Pérez Hidalgo states that he will continue to advance the regulator’s efforts to eradicate illegal wagering services and black market activities related to gambling.

During 2018, Coljuegos worked on a joint task force with Colombia’s Tax Directorate and Federal Police, closing down 3,000 illegal gambling premises, whilst taking seizure of 2,800 illegal gambling machines and blocking 2,600 ‘black-market’ betting websites.
