Online gaming company Skyrocket Entertainment has acquired the rights to a series of major films thanks to a deal with Millennium Media, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Skyrocket launched at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, announcing itself as a potentially lucrative additional revenue stream for film producers and unveiling plans to license as many as 100 film-related slots per year.
The deal, which was agreed between Skyrocket CEO Sean O’Kelly and Millennium Media president Jeffrey Greenstein, includes titles such as The Expendables, Rambo 4 and the Fallen franchise, which features Gerard Butler.
Skyrocket has also established a series of platform and distribution deals that will see its launches present in a number of markets, including the UK, Malta, Asia, Eastern Europe, Russia and the CIS countries, on more than 350 gaming sites.
“We are excited to be working with Millennium Media, adding the crown jewels of their library to the Skyrocket slate for this innovative venture,” said O’Kelly.
“Millennium recognised the value and vast potential of this new revenue stream from day one and we’re looking forward to creating fresh and immersive gaming experiences around these well-loved films, which resonate with existing but also new audiences worldwide.”
Game development will commence in May, with launches anticipated in 2020.
