Texas Lottery appoints LaDonna Castañuela as Director of Charitable Bingo

Texas Lottery Commission has appointed LaDonna Castañuela as its new Director of Charitable Bingo. She will oversee the agency’s regulation of bingo.

The Texas Lottery Commission has appointed LaDonna Castañuela as its new Director of the Charitable Bingo Operations Division. She will oversee the agency’s regulation of bingo effective July 1.

Chairman Robert G Rivera commented: “I am pleased to announce LaDonna Castañuela as the next director of the Charitable Bingo Operations Division.

“Ms Castañuela brings extensive state government experience to this position, and I am confident she is the right leader to shepherd the agency’s regulatory function and collaborative efforts with the charitable bingo industry and stakeholder groups.”

Castañuela brings to her new role more than three decades of experience from working for various Texas state agencies.

Most recently, she served as the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles’ attorney and mediator, where she helped develop the department’s mediation program and spearheaded many legislative and regulatory initiatives.

She has held various roles at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, including as Chief Clerk to the Commission. She began her career in the Texas state government at the Office of the Attorney General.

Castañuela holds a Juris Doctorate degree in Law from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s Degree in Comparative Literature from Princeton University.

Back in May, the lottery kick started a yearlong celebration as it approaches its 30th anniversary in May 2022, commemorating the occasion as “30 Years of Winning”.
