Nigeria’s National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) has announced a new strategy, launched under the banner of the Central Monitoring System, which aims to boost the government’s revenue collection.

According to Vanguard, NLRC’s Director General Lanre Gbajabiamila said in a statement that the initiative would guarantee that all earnings due to the government on lottery were accurately collected, adding it would stop loopholes and drainages in the lottery business.

Gbajabiamila was quoted: “With the arrangements being put in place, lottery will soon be contributing significantly to the federal treasury as it has done in countries like America, the United Kingdom, and Spain.”

The Director General noted that the NLRC’s management and staff members were already trained to ensure a successful outcome for the new plan, and arrangements had also reached an advanced stage to create an indigenous national game with all the benefits of higher revenues for the government.

Gbajabiamila commented that the game would generate larger payouts for players and great growth for the industry.

“We have remained tirelessly ingenious in engendering improved revenue earnings and entrenching a better lottery business in all ramifications,’’ he said.
