Gaming brand Fortnite will be the master sponsor of the Brazilian team Santos FC in the CONMEBOL Libertadores championship game, which will take place on January 30 at the Maracana stadium.

This sponsorship is the second for the team in recent weeks, following the confirmation of a new partnership with Konami Digital Entertainment and its brand eFootball PES 2021

“Football is one of the main sports that our players ask us to consider and experience in Fortnite. We are excited to be partnering with Santos FC to bring the jogo bonito to Fortnite fans around the world,” said Nate Nanzer, Head of Global Partnerships at Epic Games.

Besides its brand occupying the most important space of the Santos FC jersey during the final of the biggest competition at a club level in America, the company will also carry out a strategy on the team’s social media channels.

“[It’s] an important initiative, not only on a commercial level but also in regards to positioning, as the team is getting closer to a global brand and one that is important for young people,” said Andrés Rueda, president of Santos FC.

Last week, Santos FC was one of the 23 teams that participated in a global activation to bring football to Fortnite.

“The relationship between the football industry and esports is becoming increasingly sophisticated and with different formats: clubs that participate in modalities with competitive teams, licenses of clubs’ brands within games and shirt sponsorships that use football as a platform for global brands and important games,” said Marcelo Frazão, Marketing executive of Santos FC.

“Santos FC actively participates in all these formats and understands that these initiatives are strategic,” he added.
