UK Gambling Commission lifts
Genesis Global licence suspension

UKGC

Genesis Global has been awarded the green-light to resume the operations of its roster of online casino brands within the United Kingdom, after the UK Gambling Commission lifted the suspension of its remote operating licence yesterday (Wednesday 14 October 2020).

Those sites now listed as active are Casoola Casino, Casino Planet, Kassu, CasinoCruise, Casino Gods, Casino Joy, Genesis Casino, Pelaa, Sloty Online Casino, Spela, Spinit and Vegas Hero.

Lauded as a “swift licence suspension lift,” the decision enables Genesis to resume trading with immediate effect, after being hit with the interim suspension to its operating licence in July.

The group asserts that it has “started working hard” to take the improved casino brands live again in the next few days, with an ambition stressed to ensure that their customers are given the responsible and safe gaming environment “which they have always worked hard to deliver”.

Genesis Global asserts that it will continue to work closely with the UKGC to ensure that all concerns are fully satisfied, with further updates about all ongoing developments from the group to be provided accordingly.

Genesis Global Management explained: “We are pleased to announce that the suspension of our UKGC license has been lifted, as a result of the intensive work and huge dedication our business has demonstrated in the last few months.

“This is clear testament to our commitment to both UK regulations and to our customers. We are also hugely thankful to our staff for their dedication and trust, and to our suppliers who have assisted in rectifying a difficult situation which arose during unusual economic circumstances for the whole world.”

Upon issuing the suspension, the UKGC commented that “this is due to a number of compliance issues,” with the decision making it illegal for the company to offer gambling services via its suite of igaming sites in Great Britain.

Genesis Global almost immediately confirmed its intention to appeal, commenting that the regulator’s decision was disproportionate and inconsistent.

Issuing a statement regarding the company’s position on the matter, Genesis Global noted that it was the subject of a routine compliance assessment in early July, noting that it had “undergone these assessments previously without any adverse material findings”.

Following independent legal advice, the company emphasised that it was “of the opinion that the decision to suspend their operating licence is not only disproportionate but also inconsistent with UKGC’s previous regulatory enforcement action in regard to other operators”.
