IGT has announced it will continue providing its lottery technology services in Costa Rica with its consortium until 2023.

The consortium, which sees IGT partner with BOLDT Gaming SA and Consorcio GTECH Boldt Gaming, has agreed to operate in the Central American territory to provide services and technology for La Junta de Protección Social (JPS)

IGT are responsible for lottery game development, high-performing technology, retail management and training, marketing execution, call centre operations, field services and warehousing under the terms of the agreement.

Esmeralda Britton González, President of the Board of Directors of JPS, commented: The electronic games that JPS has in the market through our contract with IGT are additional opportunities to continue generating profits for the social good, and in this way, helping to fulfil the mission of our institution.

“The brands of products from JPS that are offered through IGT have been of interest to people of different ages who acquire them in the different points of sale across the country near their homes or workplaces, which helps us to achieve our sales goals.”

IGT has operated in Costa Rica since 2011 after signing an agreement with JPS, who launched its lottery game in 2013 using the firm’s technology. In 2020, it recorded record-breaking sales of ₡85,000m.

Jay Gendron, IGT Chief Operating Officer, Lottery, added: “IGT is pleased to maintain our lottery operations in Costa Rica through 2023.

“We applaud the lottery’s efforts to maximise funds for more than 500 social programs and the 1,800 independent retailers whose livelihoods depend on strong lottery sales.”
